The Kent County Agricultural Society is delighted to announce the launch of its brand-new event, Countryside Careers, taking place on Thursday 7 May 2026 at the Kent Showground in Detling, Maidstone. This innovative, free-to-attend careers showcase is designed for visitors aged 13 and over, as well as individuals exploring new career pathways within the land-based, rural and environmental sectors.
Countryside Careers aims to open eyes and doors to the many roles available across agriculture, conservation, forestry, animal care, environmental science, rural tourism, engineering and more. Young people, career changers, and school groups are invited to engage directly with local employers, industry professionals and further education providers, gaining insight into apprenticeships, progression routes and real-world job opportunities.
“We are thrilled to launch Countryside Careers — a dedicated event encouraging the next generation to explore the diverse and exciting opportunities that the countryside and land-based industries offer,” said Nikki Dorkings, General Manager for the Kent County Agricultural Society. “Whether you’re passionate about animal care, sustainability, engineering or environmental science, this event provides valuable hands-on experiences and meaningful employer interaction.”
