Now in it’s eleventh year and, so far, having supported more than 30 students, the Kent Rural Scholarship was founded to encourage and support young people in Kent studying for a degree in a land-based subject.
As part of our charitable objective to support education in agriculture and land-based industries, the Kent County Agricultural Society developed the Kent Rural Scholarship which provides funding of £1,000 per year for 3 years to up to 3 students from Kent who are going to university to study for a degree in agriculture, horticulture, animal care, veterinary sciences, equine studies and other rural subjects.
And this year, we are delighted to announce that this has been extended to support one additional student thanks to funding support from the Ashford Cattle Market!
This support shows the level of confidence in the Kent Rural Scholarship scheme within the wider Kent agricultural community and represents the strong connections between farming organisations within the county.
We would like to extend our thanks to all at the Ashford Cattle Market for their generous support of the scheme and their recognition of the need to continue supporting higher education for young people entering the rural industries.
We are delighted to be able to announce the FOUR recipients of this year’s Kent Rural Scholarship. They are:
Oliver Woodbridge – Studying Ecology & Conservation at University of Kent.
Morgan Taylor – Studying Agricultural Engineering at Harper Adams.
Jade Neal – Studying Agriculture With Livestock Production Science at Harper Adams.
Bobby Boorman – Studying Agriculture at Anglia Ruskin University.
