Join us at Countryside Careers on Thursday 11th February 2027 at the Kent Showground, Detling.
After a successful first event in May 2026, Kent’s dedicated land-based careers fair returns for it’s second year on Thursday 11th February 2027! Drawing in over 1,400 visitors for the first event, the Kent County Agricultural Society, the charity behind the event, are excited to continue growing Countryside Careers.
Aimed at students aged 13+, school leavers and all those considering a career change, Countryside Careers is a chance to discover the wide range of opportunities for further education and career pathways within the agricultural, horticultural and associated industries as well as connecting with employers and exploring current vacancies.
Speaking to the event organisers, a staff member of Orchard School in Canterbury, which brought 120 students to the first Countryside Careers event, said:
“It was amazing to take the whole of Year 9 to the Kent Showground today, hosted by the Kent County Agricultural Society.
We loved seeing the students speak to employers, find out more about the industry and ask some fantastic questions along the way.
We can’t wait to go again next year!”
Countryside Careers also creates a prime opportunity for employers within the rural sector to connect with their future employees, encourage future generations to explore career pathways with their company and to advertise their own vacancies.
One such employer at the 2026 Countryside Careers was AC Goatham, who have been producing apples and pears in Kent since 1947. A team member from AC Goatham told us:
“It was a pleasure to be part of the Countryside Careers event, and we truly enjoyed meeting the students and contributing to such a valuable initiative. It was great to see so many young people engaging with the different career opportunities available within the industry.
We appreciate all the hard work involved in bringing everything together and making the day so enjoyable for both exhibitors and attendees.”
Countryside Careers is FREE to attend for both individuals and group bookings.
Individuals looking to attend can register for their FREE ticket via the Countryside Careers website when tickets launch in September 2026, whilst schools and youth organisations looking to book tickets for a class or group visit can do so by contacting Sally Higgins on sally.higgins@kentshowground.co.uk or calling the Kent County Agricultural Society on 01622 630975
