Society Events & Operations Coordinator

Full Time | Kent Showground, Detling, Maidstone | Depending on experience

The Kent County Agricultural Society is looking for an organised, practical and enthusiastic person to join our events team as Society Events & Operations Coordinator.

This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the delivery of the Society’s programme of events. You’ll be responsible for helping make sure the practical and operational side of our events runs smoothly, working with colleagues, contractors, suppliers, exhibitors and volunteers.

A key part of the role will be taking the lead on the Heritage Transport Show and the Heritage section of the Kent County Show, as well as providing administration and operational support to Biddenden Tractorfest.

You’ll also play an important role in coordinating event services, health and safety, site plans and our Society stewards. This includes recruiting and organising stewards, keeping them informed throughout the year, producing a quarterly Stewards’ Newsletter and organising our annual Stewards’ Supper.

What you’ll be doing

  • Coordinating practical event services, contractors and suppliers.
  • Supporting event set-up and operational arrangements.
  • Helping manage health and safety, risk assessments and event paperwork.
  • Preparing site plans and layouts, including using AutoCAD where required.
  • Organising and delivering the Heritage Transport Show.
  • Coordinating the Heritage section of the Kent County Show.
  • Providing administration and event support for Biddenden Tractorfest.
  • Recruiting, organising and supporting the Society’s event stewards.
  • Producing the quarterly Stewards’ Newsletter and organising the annual Stewards’ Supper.
  • Supporting the wider Events Team with other Society events and activities.
  • Assisting with event administration, enquiries, invoicing and client events at Kent Event Centre.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Organised and able to manage several things at once.
  • Practical, proactive and good at solving problems.
  • Confident dealing with people, including contractors, suppliers, exhibitors and volunteers.
  • A good communicator with excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Confident using IT and Microsoft Office.
  • Happy to work some evenings and weekends around our events.

Experience of events, shows, conferences, volunteers, contractors or health and safety would be useful. Knowledge of agriculture, rural life, heritage or outdoor events would also be an advantage, as would experience using AutoCAD or similar software.

Experience is desirable but not essential. We’re more interested in finding someone who is organised, enthusiastic, practical and enjoys working with people and seeing an event come together.

This is a great opportunity to join a busy and varied events team and play an important part in delivering some of the Society’s much-loved events.
