This is an exciting opportunity to join the Kent County Agricultural Society as an Accounts Manager. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in a similar role with excellent use of Sage Accounts and great customer service skills. The role holder will be responsible for managing the day to day accounting across the Society, working closely with the small events team.


Job Title: Accounts Manager

Reporting To: General Manager

Working Hours: 37.5 Hours Salary: £30,000 – £40,000

Basis: Full time

Occasional weekend working will also be required for events

Location: Kent Showground, Detling and/or flexible working


– To manage the accounting function of the Society and its commercial subsidiary

– Day to day data processing

– To supervise and manage invoicing and credit control across all Society events, and liaise with the events team to ensure efficient and streamlined processes in place

– Provision of monthly management accounts, quarterly VAT returns and related accounts functions

– Sales and purchase ledgers

– Fixed Assets Register

– Intercompany transactions

– Cashflow reports

– Budget preparation

– Companies House and Charity Commission filing requirements

– Insurance

– Liaising with the Hon. Finance Director

– Year end audit preparations with the Society’s accountants

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by the General Manager from time to time.


Essential Experience:

– AAT or CIMA as minimum qualification

– 3 years as an assistant manager/manager in a similar role

– Prior experience of Sage Accounts

– Experience using a CMS (Content Management System)

– Good use of Microsoft operating system and Microsoft Office programmes

– Customer focused experience

– Charity accounting knowledge/experience
